Well there she is…..my Iphone 5 finally got delivered today, which for me meant it was time to put my sim card cutting skills to the test.
Unfortunately as i’m currently with the mobile provider giffgaff, they don’t currently offer the new “nano” sim’s which the iphone 5 requires so it was time to get the scissors out and operate….
Luckily for me the guys over @ Technobuffalo provide a very handy print out sheet (below) to allow you to operate and go DIY on all types of sim cards

So I printed it out and this was the part I needed to focus on
As you can see the sim card holder is much smaller,
So after finding a bit of blu tack to hold my sim card in place, I got to work with a marker and a ruler (very technical)
Now it was time to take the plunge and cut my precious sim card. The way I look at it, i’ve got a 50/50 chance here. 50% chance it all ends in tears, or 50% chance “it turned out nice”
Luckily for me “it turned out nice”….
Switched the new phone on and after a second of “searching” up pop’s 02-uk. Phew…..
To be fair, if you have a steady hand, and just take a few seconds to consider what you are doing then it’s actually not that bad. Even if you cut some of the metal contacts it really doesn’t matter as the chip is in the middle of the metal contacts, so don’t be afraid of that. (easy to say once I’ve done it though!)
First impressions of the phone, very nice. Bigger screen is nice, seems a lot more clear/crisp and the speed difference is noticeable (opening apps/flicking back and forth).
I’ll use it for a few days then give a better review on it, enjoy and hopefully this helps others out.
Thank you for another great blog
